Surmodics Stabilisers to improve assay performance
BBI offers a range of protein and non-protein based reagents designed to improve the performance of IVD assays. BBI supplies the Surmodics branded range of stabilisers to it EU based clients. StabilCoat™, StabilBlock™ and StabilGuard™ product ranges effectively preserve the conformation and activity of proteins while simultaneously blocking the surface to reduce non‐specific binding. The products can be used to stabilise antibodies, antigens or enzymes on an assortment of immunoassay components: polystyrene plates, tubes, glass, membranes, and filter paper.
The non‐specific binding of serum proteins, conjugates and other assay components to solid surfaces in immunoassay applications requires that a blocking step be incorporated into the protocol to maximize assay sensitivity. Additionally, the manufacturing of immunoassay test kits requires long-term protein stability to increase the manufacturing scale and extend shelf lives for the end user. The different formulations allow these requirements to be accomplished in a single step while easily being substituted for the blocking solution in an existing assay protocol.
StabilZyme™ conjugate/protein stabilisers protect the entire conjugate by preventing the loss of catalytic activity and maintaining the structural integrity of the protein in solution. These stabilisers allow for the storage of conjugated proteins at lower use concentrations, extended shelf life and increased signal‐to‐noise ratios for improved assay performance. Materials are provided as ready to use formulations or concentrates in specific buffered matrix designed for optimal performance.
