Art v 1, the major allergen of mugwort pollen, is a secreted modular glycoprotein with a N-terminal defensin-like and a C-terminal hydroxyproline-rich domain. It has been shown that reactivity of IgE antibodies is mainly directed to epitopes located in the N-terminal domain.
