Founded upon the success of the superior quality and performance of our reagents, our organization includes seven operating facilities worldwide that work together to globally serve the science of diagnostics for better healthcare outcomes and clinical decision making.
We remain a determined, dynamic and innovative company with expert, passionate and energetic employees who all work hard to ensure quality, value and superior service for our customers. We have a focus on employee safety and ensuring we bring fairness across all our facilities.
‘I am delighted that in 2025, we have achieved a Gold Sustainability Rating with EcoVadis, which highlights our ongoing commitment to responsible business practices across aspects of environmental, social, and governance. We have made investments in our decarbonisation strategy that drive reductions in energy, water and waste across our business. Furthermore, we are reducing single-use plastics wherever possible. Beyond our environmental initiatives, we’ve also strengthened employee engagement and increased community outreach efforts across all sites.
Looking ahead, we’ve set ambitious objectives to reflect our commitment to driving sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence. A key focus remains accelerating our transition to renewable energy, aligned with our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and aligning with evolving regulations.’

Environment
Safeguarding health means safeguarding the planet. At BBI, we embed sustainability into the way we think, operate, and grow. Our global sites are actively working to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, and minimize waste. We follow a science-based approach and align with internationally recognized standards to ensure we continue making measurable progress and support our customers with solutions that reflect a shared commitment to environmental responsibility.
In practice we:
- Hold an EcoVadis Gold rating – proof our management systems rank among the sector’s best for ESG performance
- Invest millions in recombinant technologies that replace animal-derived inputs and lower CO₂ across the product life-cycle
- Get 53 % of the power running our six global sites from renewables, with less than 0.4 % of waste ending up in landfill.

Social
Empowering people empowers science. Across our 500-strong global team, we weave well-being, inclusion, and community service into daily work – aligning with the UN’s Good Health & Well-being goal. Programs range from mental-health first aid to volunteering within work hours, turning expertise into impact.
- Meet all six Stevenson & Farmer mental-health standards, expanding our mental health first-aid network across our sites (UN SDG 3).
- 73 % of 2023 secondments filled by women, accelerating gender balance in science, finance & engineering (UN SDG 5).
- Launched a global volunteering policy and have donated 2.5 tons of equipment to education and health causes since 2023 (UN SDG 12).

- Supplier Code of Conduct, Risk Register, and conflict-mineral screening drive our target of 100 % ethical procurement.
- 100% compliance on third party ESG audits since we initiated this initiative in 2022
