What is the difference between Hexokinase and Glucokinase?
Glucokinase is a form of hexokinase, however, has a low affinity for glucose compared with hexokinase.
While hexokinase acts on several different types of sugars, such as fructose, mannose and glucose, glucokinase is specific to glucose, and only acts upon high glucose levels.

Applications
Our recombinant hexokinase is primarily designed for use in chemistry assays to measure glucose (alongside G6PDH)
The principle of this type of assay is that hexokinase phosphorylates glucose to glucose-6-phosphate (G6P), which G6PDH then oxidizes to G6P and generates NADPH.
NADPH is measured spectrophotometrically at 340 nm, and is directly proportional to the levels of glucose present
