What is G6PD deficiency (G6PDD)?
G6PDH deficiency is a hereditary genetic disorder that causes G6PD levels to be lower than normal.
This can affect the way that red blood cells respond to stresses, and in some cases lead to haemolytic anaemia.
For many people, a G6PD deficiency may never be identified or trigger an adverse effect.
Typically, tests for G6PDD do not utilise the G6PDH enzyme in the assay reaction.
